Redditch Revolutions

Baton Twirling & Pom Pom Troupe

2004

Redditch Revolutions was formed in June 2004 by Ann-Marie Moorhead as there was no longer a majorette troupe in Redditch.  With the support of Margaret and Brian Bridgwater, Redditch Revolutions was formed.

On the opening night many new recruits attended.  11 of the new recruits became regular members and performed their first event in Bromsgrove after 3 month's of traiing.  The display was well received and the girls did the Troupe proud.

The majorettes performed at their first inter-Troupe competition in December 2004.

2005

Redditch Revolutions rapidly grew in numbers with 45 members at peak.

We gained another trainer Clare who had competed for England twice and passed her experience on to the Troupe.  Sadly due to other commitments and relocation, Clare had to leave the troupe.

During 2005, Redditch Revolutions completed our first carnival season and we performed at numerous events across the West Midlands, Worcestershire, Warwickshire and Gloucestershire.

We held our second inter-Troupe competition in December 2005, which proved to be even more successful than the 2004 event.  We raised some much needed funds from this event which allowed us to purchase some new costumes.

2006

In 2006, we decided that it was time to start competing against other Troupes.  We joined United Baton Twirlers (UBT) and competed at the Regionals in April.  Everyone had a fun time and we came away with some medals.

Redditch Revolutions once again have a third trainer.  Rachel Schieber has joined the Troupe after having a break from teaching baton twirling.

In October, we competed at the UBT Nationals and picked up 1 1st, 2 2nds and 3 3rd places in our team entries.  We also gained many medals for our individually placed leaders and mascots.  Again, this was a really enjoyable weekend and we are looking forward to competing again next year.

After 2 1/2 years, we decided to move to a bigger training hall to continue developing our twirling skills.  The hall has a much higher ceiling and a larger floor area.

2007

We did really well at the April competition, including 1st Junior Baton, 1st Junior Military and 2nd Senior Pom Dance.  We attended many displays and carnivals during the summer months.  We were very lucky in receiving a grant from Redditch Borough Council which enabled us to buy some new pom poms and flags.  A local dressmaker very kindly made us some new military outfits and new dance outfits.

In October, we came away from Nationals with numerous 1st place medals.

2008

After a successful carnival and competition season, we decided to join British Baton Twirling Sports Association (BBTSA).  We feel that this is a very positive step forward and hope that our athletes continue to learn new skills.

In 2008, we were successful in being awarded a FLOSS grant.  This allowed our older athletes to join BBTSA and to have new batons, shoes, dance tights and baton bags.

We did a fundraising bagpack at Morrisons Redditch and raised much needed funds.

2009

We have started the year very positively by raising vital funds at Sainsbury's Redditch doing a bagpack.

We have taken part in our first BBTSA competition this year and had a fantastic time, we also managed to get some placings.  Following this, we took part in the Area competition with 14 of our athlete's qualifiying to compete at Nationals in Portsmouth in May.  We are now looking forward to this competition.
